CASTING NOTICE

VOCALIST (Androgynous / Drag / Non-Binary Artists Encouraged)

NZO Dance Theatre is seeking a dynamic vocalist who moves well for an upcoming stage production. We are looking for an androgynous, drag, or non-binary performer with strong vocal presence, musicality, and stage charisma.

This role lives in a sultry jazz and blues world and requires a performer who can command the room—vocally and physically. The vocalist will be integrated into a movement-forward, theatrical ensemble and should feel comfortable blending voice, character, and embodiment.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Strong live vocalist with jazz and/or blues sensibilities

  • Moves confidently and rhythmically (formal dance training not required)

  • Comfortable with sensuality, stylization, and elevated stage aesthetics

  • Experience with drag, cabaret, jazz performance, burlesque, or theatrical music is a plus

  • Collaborative, professional, and reliable

PROJECT DETAILS

  • Paid, non-union engagement (competitive pay)

  • Rehearsals and performances based in Jackson, MS

  • Local submissions only

  • Callbacks by invitation only
